Things that caught my eye in the paper this morning:
l. Imagine the dictionary on line and not on paper?!
2. Warnings not to buy an electric car if there were no way to "fill 'er up" in town: Well, dah!
3. I saw nothing about eggs, but I might have missed something.
4. Two men in Texas had the same name, same birth date, and both carried a Texas driver's
license but luckily didn't have the same finger prints.
5. The Martins are flocking to leave, a sure sign of fall.

THE WEEKEND

Well, I didn't finish the silver; in fact I did nothing to talk about except----read a book all day, the first time since we've been here that I have given in to comfort and pleasure only. The book is THE ECHO MAKER by RICHARD POWERS==the one the Laibles sent. It's different, long, and interesting. We did watch a movie last night: one with Meryl Streep in it, but certainly, not one of her best.

I rather hope today will be the same-- a self-indulgent one. We started out well by finishing both crossword puzzles--the Gazette one, and the Sentinal one. Bob can usually finish at least one of them, but to get both done makes it a good beginning to the day. Our movie for tonite is one made from a Willa Cather book. Hope it is as good as I usually find her books to be.

This is Memorial Weekend: can we send good thoughts to our service men and women? and can we hope for better news from the oil spill?
